Week 4 in Nursery

We have had another wonderful week in Nursery, filled with stories, colour, creativity and lots of opportunities to develop our physical skills!

Our story focus this week was Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? by Bill Martin Jr., illustrated by Eric Carle. We enjoyed joining in with the repeated phrases and retelling the story using pictures of our Nursery friends. This was a lovely way to help us learn and remember everyone's names while developing our communication and listening skills.

We developed our fine motor skills and colour recognition through a fun threading activity. The children carefully threaded beads, matching the colours to the animals and colours from our story. This helped us practise our hand and finger control while also encouraging us to recognise and name different colours.

We strengthened our gross motor skills by making big marks on our large chalkboard. The children enjoyed using their whole bodies and making large movements as they experimented with lines, circles and different shapes.

In our construction area, we have been developing our building skills. We explored how to balance blocks and worked together to build towers and houses. The children enjoyed experimenting with different ways to make their structures strong and stable.

Our young pupils (2-year-olds) have been enjoying Where's Spot? by Eric Hill. They explored painting using their hands and a range of different tools, enjoying the different marks and textures they could create.

We also created physical trails and tunnels for the children to follow, encouraging them to crawl, climb, move and explore their surroundings. We finished the week by making playdough together, developing those important little hand muscles as we squashed, rolled, poked and shaped the dough.

It has been lovely to see the children becoming more confident in Nursery, building relationships, exploring their environment and developing new skills through play. We are so proud of everything they are learning!
