Welcome to Year 2!

It has been so lovely welcoming the children into Year 2! We have been incredibly impressed with how well they have settled back into school routines and how ready they have been to learn, explore and challenge themselves.

The children have already been working exceptionally hard across the curriculum. In Maths, we have been learning all about place value and developing our understanding of larger numbers up to 100. The children have been working hard to recognise the value of each digit in a number and explain their mathematical thinking.

In English, we have been inspired by George’s Marvellous Medicine. The children have been using their imaginations to create their very own medicine for a mean and disgusting Grandma! They have been learning how to write clear instructions using imperative verbs, interesting noun phrases, adverbs and reasons for their choices. We have already seen some wonderfully creative ideas!

A little reminder about our reading and homework routines:

• Reading books should be brought into school every day. Books can be changed on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, so please make sure your child has their reading book and reading card with them each day.
• Homework books should be brought into school on Mondays so that we can check the children's homework!

Most importantly, Miss Triffitt and Miss Cox are super impressed with the resilience and determination we have seen from the children since returning to school. They have shown such a positive attitude towards their learning and have been willing to keep trying, even when things feel tricky.

We are so excited for everything Year 2 will achieve this year and can't wait to see the children continue to grow, learn and flourish!
