Year 6 Update

Year 6 have enjoyed another busy, exciting week of learning, approaching every subject with enthusiasm and determination.

In Writing, the children have planned and begun writing their own portal narratives inspired by The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. They have been using their individual writing targets to structure their paragraphs, develop their descriptions and bring their imaginative stories to life.

In Maths, we have continued exploring the four operations, focusing on multiplication and division. The children have also completed their first official SATs practice, helping them become familiar with the format of the assessments and build confidence for the months ahead.

In History, we have explored key events of World War II, including the Battle of Britain and the planning and execution of D-Day. The children have developed their understanding of these significant events and their impact on the course of the war.

In Science, we have built on our knowledge of classification, applying it to plants and micro-organisms. The children have explored how living things can be grouped according to their characteristics.

In RE, we have investigated the concept of power in greater depth, considering how it influences our everyday lives, relationships and decisions.

Finally, in Art, the children have planned their final pieces: WWII-themed drawings that use perspective to create a three-dimensional effect. We are looking forward to seeing their ideas develop into finished artworks!

Well done, Year 6, for another fantastic week of learning. We are proud of your hard work, creativity and resilience and look forward to seeing what you achieve next week!
