Governors

Sophia Ship - Acting Headteacher

As Acting Headteacher of Shirley Warren Primary and Nursery School, I also serve as a Governor, providing a vital link between the school’s strategic direction and its day-to-day leadership. This dual role enables me to contribute a clear, informed perspective to the Governing Body, grounded in a deep understanding of our pupils’ needs, school priorities and ongoing improvement journey. I work closely with fellow governors to support effective strategic planning, robust accountability and high standards, ensuring the best possible outcomes for our children, families and staff.

Sally Spicer - Co-opted Governor

With my recent knowledge in local government as a city councillor and a back ground of 18 years in early years, I really wanted to put my knowledge to good use in the role of a governor. My son also attended the school until recently, so it is great to be involved in the improvement and progression of the school. I also really enjoy working in the community to make a difference

Aby Adekoya - Co-opted Governor

My name is Aby and I have been a Co-opted Governor since the 14th March 2023. I am thrilled to serve in this capacity with children as my contribution to my local community. I am also a volunteer with The Advocacy People and work as a medical doctor at the general hospital close by. My background helps me to be an advocate for children and vulnerable people while paying attention to detail and the safety of those that I have the opportunity to work with. This also means that I work well in multidisciplinary teams to encourage positive change using the latest evidence, which resonates with the duties and goals of the Governing body here at Shirley Warren Primary and Nursery school. In this role, I also learn more about my local environment and how the school is making a significant impact in the lives of the children. They are the future of our world!

Kim Blacklock - Staff Governor

Luke Newman - Co-opted Governor

Jack Hillman - Local Authority Governor
